Intensivist nurses experience this practice in their work setting. Soon, understand the conceptions that this professional has about this theme is necessary. Therefore, this study aimed to understand the perceptions of intensive care nurses about the dysthanasia. It is a study of integrative review. An online search was conducted in the Virtual Health Library and Portal Capes, between July 2015. Eight articles were included. To analyze and summarize the study used a summary table, from then revealed three themes: Contextualizing dysthanasia; Factors that boosted dysthanasia; Dysthanasia x Palliative Care. These results showed that dysthanasia is common in Intensive Care Units by technological framework available. However, the participation of nurses in decisionmaking despite being important is little evident. And the family, teaching hospitals, lack of clinical protocols and the ethical and legal repercussions are factors that boosted dysthanasia. Therefore, the present study provides an opportunity to think, reflect and stimulate discussion about the process of dying with dignity. In order to promote the professionals involved a viewing and improvement in quality of care in intensive care units. http://www.uesb.br/revista/rsc/ojs/index.php/rsc/article/view/340/362
