On each buccal and lingual surfaces were prepared Blacks class V cavities, with their gingival margins on the enamel-cement junction, resulting in total 80 preparations. Every teeth was restored by the same operator using the same silver alloy and the same mercury proportion. They received lining treatment with simple and modified varnishes before amalgam condensation. After the experimental procedure, the Rhodamine B was used as an identifying agent. Then, a longitudinal section was made following an axial buco-lingual plan in which passed over the restoration center. Finally, the authors checked the penetration score of the coloring agent using optical microscopy.http://www.redalyc.org/articulo.oa?id=92900208
