Summary:This paper proposes an application of discrete wavelet transform for the evaluation of the location of fault in three-phase transmission lines. The first level approximate, and the detailed discrete wavelet transform coefficients of current at both ends are used for the evaluation of the location of faults. MATLAB has been used to simulate the three-phase transmission lines. The proposed technique is tested with varying types of fault and locations of fault. The simulation results confirm the successful evaluation of fault location in three-phase transmission lines.
