Summary: | The purpose of this paper is to describe the present reality of teacher education in a foreign language, in Brazil and, from that, to establish the main challenges of this training, based on academic literature and point out the demand of scientific publication about the subject, in the view of the brazilian geographical diversity. The methodology used was search art state, whose corpus rise from theses bank of CAPES - Higher Education Personnel Training Coordination. The sampling was based on the search titles "Teacher Training for Foreign Language Teaching." 32 abstracts were specifically found about this approach. The results reflect the literature and show that teachers need for the good result of their work the constant critical reflection process on their own performance and improvement.
