Description
Summary:Mine waste has aroused the attention of the expert and lay public with its quantity and characteristics for many years. The expert public approaches it from the point of view of the possibility of rational treatment, and the lay public with fear for the environment and sustainable development. One would solve the problem gradually according to available resources, and others would give up mining, at any cost and by a short procedure. This creates the impression that mining is marked with its waste, not with a multitude of useful products without which the current and future development is unimaginable. Starting from these premises, in this paper mine waste is shown through legislation, its general characteristics, risk and management strategies, with the problems that accompany it. The essential problem is reduced to quantities that inevitably stand out in mining processes and the need to solve the problem of disposal of such waste in accordance with its characteristics.
