Summary:By irradiating a target from natural nickel with a proton beam (17 MeV, 10 µA) obtained at a cyclotron a technique has been developed and a calculation has been made for the production of the 64Cu isotope, which is important from the point of view of nuclear medicine. As a result of the calculation, the optimal target thickness was determined, which was 0.54 mm. The dependences of the 64Cu isotope production on the target thickness and on the irradiation time are obtained. The depth at which the concentration of nuclei of the produced isotope is maximum is determined.
