Summary: | Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is an invasive procedure, which is widely used in the management of pancreas and biliary tract diseases. It may induce complications, such as pancreatitis, bleeding, and perforation. Splenic injury is an extremely rare but life threatening complication. We reviewed the literature, and found that 23 ERCP associated splenic injuries cases had been reported. We discussed the likely mechanism, clinical features, diagnostic modality, and treatment, also shared our experience on a patient who suffered splenic laceration after ERCP and was successfully treated by splenectomy. |
