Omofobia e omicidio in Italia: un’analisi psicologica

This work aims to investigate some unconscious psychological aspects related to the phenomenon of homophobia and to describe the phenomenon of homicide in Italy. Through a literature review, it has been possible to identify the psychological aspects linked to homophobia: origins and meaning, homophobic personality traits, types of homophobic violence. Based on recent events and through the examination of some cases that occurred in 2011 in Italy, the authors reflect on dynamics of crimes, persecution and violence exercised against homosexuals. The overall picture that emerges is that psycho-educational interventions about diversity and respect are required.
