Methods: Prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia tissue were collected to extract RNA and determine the mRNA levels of KLF5 as well as proliferation and epithelial-mesenchymal transition-related genes; DU145 cells were cultured and transfected with KLF5 siRNA and negative control siRNA, and then RNA was extracted to determine the mRNA levels of proliferation and epithelial-mesenchymal transitionrelated genes. Results: KLF5, SRSF1, Survivin, MACC1, c-Met, N-cadherin and Vimentin mRNA levels in prostate cancer tissue were significantly higher than those in benign prostatic hyperplasia tissue while TGF-β, E-cadherin and β-catenin mRNA levels were significantly lower than those in benign prostatic hyperplasia tissue; SRSF1, Survivin, MACC1, c-Met, TGF- β, N-cadherin and Vimentin mRNA levels in si-KLF5 group were significantly lower than those in si-NC group while E-cadherin and β-catenin mRNA levels were significantly higher than those in si-NC group.
