Nefropatía IgA: aspectos clínico-histológicos IgA nephropathy: clinical and histological aspects

El propósito de este trabajo fue conocer las características clínicas e histológicas de la nefropatía IgA en el Servicio de Nefrología del Hospital Pediátrico Docente &#8220;Centro Habana&#8221;. Para ello se realizó un estudio retrospectivo en 56 pacientes con el diagnóstico de nefropatía IgA: 36 varones y 20 hembras, entre 3 y 15 años de edad. La nefropatía IgA representó el 11,8 % del total de las glomerulopatías primarias en nuestro estudio. El grupo de edad más frecuente al comienzo de la enfermedad fue entre 11 y 15 años, con un predominio del sexo masculino (64,2 %). La hematuria macroscópica recurrente fue la forma clínica de presentación más común, precedida de 1 a 3 días o concomitando con infección de las vías respiratorias superiores en la mayoría de los pacientes (57,1 %). En el 67,8 % de los casos el patrón histológico encontrado fue la proliferación mesangial pura (tipo II) y se correlacionó con la hematuria recurrente como forma de presentación clínica inicial de la enfermedad (92 %).<br>The purpose of this paper was to know the clinical and histological characteristics of IgA nephropathy at the Nephrology Services of &#8220;Centro Habana&#8221; Pediatric Teaching Hospital.To this end, a retrospective study was conducted among 56 patients with the diagnosis of IgA: 36 males and 20 females aged 3-15. IgA neprhopathy accounted for 11.8 % of the total of the primary glomerulopathies in our study. The most frequent age group at the beginning of the disease was between 11 and 15 years old, with a predominance of males (64.2%). Recurrent macroscopic hematuria was the most common clinical form of presentation preceded from one to threee days by or concomitant with infection of the upper respiratory tract in most of the patients (57.1 %). In 67.8 % of the cases, the histological pattern found was pure mesangial proliferation (type II) and it was correlated with recurrent hematuria as an initial form of clinical presentation of the disease (92 %).
