New in many aspects, this paradigm has not yet been assimilated by some areas related to perception, such as music. We will start with a historical review of the development of the idea of soundscape in the context of contemporary music, presenting a set of core concepts involved in its design procedures. We will summarize then some philosophical ideas about perception, especially in the area of phenomenology. Finally, we will suggest some compositional procedures to soundscapes supported by Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenology and also by the post-pontynian phenomenology of Maturana and Varela.
