Description
Summary:In this paper, we try to make a historical account of the particular characteristics that define Orozkoan dialect (Biskay), in order to know the evolution of this valley and that of Biskayan Basque in general. After an introduction (§ 1), we are going to trace the most interesting features of this town's language in the 18th century (§ 2). Then, using L. L. Bonaparte's data (19th century), where the caracteristics we actually use to define Orozkoan dialect are already consolidated, we are going to see the evolution of this features, whether they are kept or lost, and we will try to discover the loss process (§ 3). In the last part of the paper (§ 4), we are going to compare the language of the doctrine known as Viva Jesus and the Orozkoan dialect, aiming to place geographically the language of this text within the biscayan dialect.
