İnsanoğlu yaşamı boyunca sosyal, psikolojik, ekonomik, siyasi ve dini yönden birçok alanda mutluluğa giden yolu arar. Şüphesiz bunun en önemli basamağını evlilik tercihi ve öncesindeki eş seçimi gelir. Eş seçimi bu mutluluğun seviyesini tayin eden en önemli unsur olarak karşımıza çıkar. Eş seçimi, insan yaşantısındaki en önemli karar olmanın ötesinde bireyin geri kalan yaşamını vereceği bu kararla birçok yönden olumlu veya olumsuz şekilde etkileyeceği ortadadır. Bu kararla birlikte kişi, bundan sonraki yaşamını kiminle sürdüreceğine, kiminle birlikte yol alıp, gelişip değişeceğine, nasıl bir yaşam sürdüreceğine ve hatta kimden çocuk sahibi olup, kiminle birlikte çocuk yetiştireceğine karar vermiş olur. Aile kurumuna büyük önem atfeden Kırgız toplumunda evlilik tercihi doğal olarak eş seçimi, babadan oğula, nesilden nesle uzayıp giden köklü bir gelenek olarak hayat bulur. Geleneksel Kırgız toplumunda aile yuvasını erkek planlandırır, kadın ise kurar. Kurma esnasında birtakım eksikliklerin olması halinde bunlar giderilebilir, fakat planın başında bir eksiklik ve yanlışlık olması halinde bunu düzeltme zor ve kimi zaman imkânsızdır. Evlenecek gençlerin mutlu bir gelecek ve aile kurması için eş seçimi üzerinde titizlikle duran Kırgız ailesi, çocukları evlendirmeden önce eş seçimde geleneksel birtakım ölçütlerin belirlediği ve bu yönde seçim yaptığı tespit edilir. Bu çalışmada, Kırgız ailesinin eş seçiminde takip ettiği geleneksel uygulama ve kurallar sınıflandırılarak eş –soy durumu, eş-ekonomik durum, eş- akrabalık durumu, eş-millet durumu, eş- cenge durumu, eş özellikleri ve yasaklar hakkında bilgi verilmektedir. Ayrıca Çağdaş Kırgız Ailesinin Geleneksel ve Yeniliksel Meseleleri adlı araştırma çerçevesinde Kırgız ailesinin bugünkü eş seçimi esaslarında nelere dikkat ettiği sosyolojik veriler ışığında açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. [A human seeks the ways of happiness through social, psychological, economic, political and religious aspects throughout his/her life. The choice of spouse is the most important element that determines the level of happiness. In fact, it is important to choose the right partner in order to spend most of your life in happiness. Hence, the choice of partner proves the fact that it is one of the most important decisions in individuals’ life that can influence many aspects positively or negatively. On the one hand along with this decision, one’s life with the chosen partner, future children and their upbringing are determined; on the other hand one’s fate is decided for the rest of his life. In Kyrgyz society pointing out great importance to the family institution, the marriage preference naturally endures as a long-lasting tradition that goes from father to son, from generation to generation. In the traditional Kyrgyz society, men plan their family and women establish it. If there is a deficiency during its construction, it can be improved, but if there is a deficiency in the start plan, it is difficult and sometimes impossible to repair. Kyrgyz families are meticulous to the choice of a future partner, so usually parents choose a spouse for their children according to a set criterion for the sake of their happiness. In this study the traditional practice and bases followed by Kyrgyz families in the selection of their future spouses have been categorized to provide information on co-current status, co-economic status, co-kinship status, co-national status, cohabitation status, peer characteristics and prohibitions. Especially in the framework of the research named “The Traditional and Innovative Issues of Contemporary Kyrgyz Families” the Kyrgyz families’ future spouse selection principles have been investigated.]
