The crime of aggravated theft, as a complex crime, along with the crime of robbery is the most typical form of professional crime. This criminal act falls into the category of crimes against property. Crimes against property belong to the category of the socalled classical general crimes. Together with some other groups of criminal acts, this type of crime is the oldest known in criminal law. Property crimes can be classified by type into: classic property offenses, offenses involving physical violence, deceit and acts without any motive of gain. The property crimes with the element of physical violence are the most serious forms of this type of crime where the physical force and threat against the victim are the methods and means of commission of the offense (robbery, aggravated theft, extortion and blackmail). In this paper the author makes an attempt to contribute to a better perception of the crime of aggravated theft since it is highly rated in the nomenclature of the total number of crimes committed in Serbia. For the purposes of an analysis of the scope, dynamics and structure of this type of crime, a study research was done in the Police Directorate Novi Sad, for the period of time from 2006 to 2010. https://casopis.pravni-fakultet.edu.rs/index.php/ltp/article/view/179
