| Summary: | Since the end of the Mexican Revolution, the main goal of the new State has been national modernization along two axes, industrialization and urbanization. México City should have materialized those ambitions for progress in the most influential social sectors, as broadly reflected in the plastic arts of the times. However, later evolution of the capital city has been characterized by a feeling of failure of those expectations, testimony of which has been transferred to the movies as the mechanism representing the end of the revolutionary project.<br>Recorrido por la evolución de la Ciudad de México desde el fin del periodo revolucionario hasta la década de 1950 a través de las principales transformaciones urbanas y las representaciones artísticas que surgen de ella. Constatación de un primer movimiento de expectativas ilusionantes en torno a la modernización al que le sucede un segundo estadio de constatación de un proceso fallido.
