The Trascău Mountains are among the top units of the Apuseni Mountains in terms of extension and variety of vertical slopes, among which, the marginal and lateral slopes of some units and the vertical slopes of gorges. The touristic role of the vertical slopes is not only reduced to their scenic value, but, even more important, they constitute the primary resources for traditional and sport climbing. Thus, in the perimeter of these mountains, several climbing areas have been outlined, some of them of national importance, such as the Turzii Gorges, or the Colţii Trascăului Massif.
