Event tourism in Ukraine as part of the hospitality industry

The essence of the event tourism is described, which means traveling in order to visit a particular event of cultural, sports, entertainment or social life of a society. The thematic types of event tourism are highlighted. The classification of event tourism according to the scale of the event is given. The features of event tourism are highlighted, the main of which is the uniqueness of each trip, unforgettable impressions and atmosphere of the holiday. The main social functions of event tourism are considered: economic, cognitive, recreational and entertaining. A SWOT analysis of Ukraine's competitiveness on the development of event tourism has been done to identify the strongest and the weakest places. The expediency of realization of leading directions concerning successful development of event tourism, which are related to administrative, educational, economic, informational spheres of activity, is substantiated.
