El bahareque es una técnica constructiva originaria de la época pre-hispánica que ha sobrevivido hasta nuestros días en la región zuliana. En aras de profundizar el conocimiento que se tiene de esta técnica en nuestra región, este trabajo aborda el estudio de los aspectos constructivos y de los materiales utilizados en varias viviendas hechas de bahareque para así determinar sus invariantes y variantes. Para ello fueron relevadas y encuestadas una muestra de 17 viviendas de diferentes áreas urbanas, sub-urbanas y rurales, las cuales pueden considerarse “antiguas”, ya que fueron construidas antes de 1950. Los resultados de la información recolectada fueron analizados aplicando el método comparativo para luego enunciar, a través del método deductivo, aquellos aspectos que son iguales y aquellos que no. Se puede concluir que no se observaron diferencias en cuanto a la técnica en sí; las distinciones se presentan en relación a algunos materiales utilizados los cuales en la mayoría de los casos, provienen del lugar o de su entorno.<br>Bahareque is an original constructive technique of the pre-Hispanic era that has survived to the present time in the region of Zulia. For the sake of deepening the knowledge of this technique in our region, this work undertakes the study of the constructive aspects and the materials used in several houses done of bahareque, to determine its invariants and variants. For this purpose were observed and surveyed a sample of 17 houses in diferent urban, sub-urban and rural areas, which can be considered “old”, because they were constructed before 1950. The results of the collected information were analized applying the comparative method and then with the deductive method were enunciate those aspects which are equal and those which aren´t. It is possible to concluded that differences as far as the technique itself were not observed; the distinctions appear in relation to the used materials which in most cases come from the surroundings.
