Description
Summary:To deal with the world of data and tracks created by digital networks, there is a need for a third generation of social sciences—one which is not restricted to building on the knowledge derived from the sciences of “society” and “opinions”. These entities were constructed at a specific point in time, the genealogy of which is retraced, to be compared with the work of the agencies which exploit digital tracks and which can produce all the reflexivity required by becoming predictive. Our proposal is to think of digital tracks as “responses” which the social sciences must follow with the appropriate methods as they henceforth constitute a new continent of the social.
