Description
Summary:The purpose of this study was to determine the anthropometric and functional profile of strollers who walk oround Willie Davids Stadium of Maringá town district seven. The sample was constituted by 168 subjects: 97 females of 37.60-year average age and 71 males of 36.08-year average age, who voluntarily came to the walking project of Universidade Estadual de Maringá. The data were collected during 1999. The average stature of males was 171.70cm and of females was 161.29 cm; the average weight of males was 76.27 kg and of females was 61.91 kg. Fat percentage in males was 19.44% and in females was 30.46%; lean weight of 60.79 kg for males and 42.51 kg for females. The IMC was 26.60 for males and 23.79 for females; waist/hip rate for males was 0.91 and for females was 0.77. VO2 max for males was 47.66 ml/kg/min and for females was 39.70 ml/kg/min. The results indicate higher weight and stature values for males than for females, that both males and females present a fat percentage higher than regular and acceptable; that the higher risk concentration in found in the interval of 40 to 49 years of age for females, and for males the interval of 30 to 39 concentrates a high risk and up to 30 years concentrates a very high risk, while VO2 max decreases with aging.
