Description
Summary:Sensitive Bodies is a practice-led research project investigating how a work of art emerges from the mediation between stimulus and response. It focuses on how the physical properties that are external to a sensitive body are activated and how painting can reveal this process. This project explores how the use of colour can uncover the different conditions in which the body experiences an affective response during the process of painting. This research aims to investigate the dynamic between the spatial-temporal relations within a process-driven aesthetic, where structural elements begin to materialise from the visual qualities of experience and materiality of paint. The book Francis Bacon: Logic of Sensation by French Philosopher Gilles Deleuze has been central in this research. It is through a Deleuzean filter of colour and sensation that I embark on this exploration.
