However, in general, there are many teachers do not meet these qualifications. Many art and culture teachers still do not have the abilities and skill in the implementation process of learning and teaching even though the teachers are degree holders. It becomes problematic because teachers do not show professionalism ability in teaching. This research aims to understand and explore the implementation of the professional development process of art and culture teachers in the City of Makassar, Indonesian. This study was conducted to identity the art and culture teachers professional development process through pre-service experience, in-service and supervision in professional competency development related to pedagogical, personality, professional and social competencies. A qualitative research design using an ethnographic approach was used to explore and understand this phenomenon. The source of data in this research was obtained through interviews, observation and document analysis. A total of 31 Participants consisting of 25 art and culture teachers, 5 principals and a cultural arts secondary school teachers supervisor were interviewed individually through purposive sampling technique. The findings indicated that teachers self-direction plays an important role in the professional development of art and culture teachers. Variety of exercises followed by voluntary of art and culture teachers can raise the level of education, competency, knowledge and skill of teachers. Model of Art and Culture Teacher Professionalism Development can be used as a guide in the professionalism development of teachers in Indonesian.
