NOTE: Text or symbols not renderable in plain ASCII are indicated by [...]. Abstract is included in .pdf document. Relative f- and gf-values for 410 lines in the spectrum of neutral chromium have been measured in electric furnace absorption spectra by the method developed by R. B. King for obtaining relative gf-values from the equivalent widths of weak absorption lines. Most of the transitions having lower excitation potentials less than 3.00 volts, in the wave length region [...] 3800 - 5500 have been measured. Some lines from terms as high as 3.45 volts are included, though most of these were too weak to permit accurate determination of their gf-values. Some information was obtained on three lines which have not as yet been classified, and is included with the hope that it may prove of assistance in the classification of these lines. Wave lengths were found for two lines which did not agree with those which had previously been assigned. These were measured with reference to known lines and corrected values are suggested. The methods used in these measurements are described in some detail and suggestions for improvement made. Sources of error are discussed and the measures taken to reduce error from these sources are described. 1950 Thesis NonPeerReviewed application/pdf https://thesis.library.caltech.edu/1587/1/Hill_aj_1950.pdf https://resolver.caltech.edu/CaltechETD:etd-05022008-161551 Hill, Armin J.
