The area is about seventeen miles northwest of Pasadena, California, and is best reached by automobile from Pasadena by driving westward on Foothill Boulevard.</p> <p>The area is slightly over one mile square in size, and is bounded on the west by Bartholomaus Canyon, and on the east by Little Tujunga Canyon. The district is cultivated in orange and lemon groves in the southern section, and the entire area, especially Kagel Canyon, is well populated.</p> <p>Field work was done with pace and Brunton compass on a photographic enlargement of U.S.G.S. topographic map of the Sunland quadrangle. The mapping and report were done in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Science at the California Institute of Technology.</p> <p>About twenty days were spent in the field in mapping and gathering of data. <p>The area is slightly over one mile square in size,
