The prison work, placed as a research subject, could understand the relationship between education and work, experienced in that prison institution. It was still intended, how the workshops and courses relate to fulfill the purpose of sentence resocializing expressed in legislation, in order that the work activities for purposes of socialization provided for in the Penal Execution Law (LEP), which constitute duty as both a person's right in the process of rehabilitation. Thus, they were still treated historical aspects of the prison system in Brazil and the main laws that govern it. Social work developed in this area focuses on the Metropolitan Patronato de Goiânia, its prospects and challenges. === A presente dissertação trata do processo de trabalho desenvolvido nas oficinas e cursos profissionalizantes da Superintendência do Sistema de Execução Penal (Susepe), na perspectiva de inclusão social do reeducando para o mercado de trabalho após o cumprimento da pena. O trabalho prisional, colocado como objeto de pesquisa, possibilitou apreender as relações entre educação e trabalho, vivenciadas naquela instituição prisional. Pretendeu-se ainda, saber como as oficinas e cursos relacionam-se para cumprir a finalidade ressocializadora da pena, expressa na legislação, tendo em vista que as atividades laborais com fins de ressocialização previstas na Lei de Execução Penal (LEP), que se constituem tanto obrigação como um direito da pessoa em processo de reeducação.Assim, foram tratados ainda aspectos históricos do sistema prisional no Brasil e as principais leis que o regem. O Serviço Social desenvolvido nessa área enfoca o Patronato Metropolitano de Goiânia, suas perspectivas e desafios.
