Previous issue date: 2015-06-18 === O presente trabalho tem como foco a educação escolar indígena específica e diferenciada do povo Potiguara da Paraíba. Concretamente, analisamos o caso da Escola Estadual Indígena de Ensino Médio e Fundamental Pedro Máximo de Lima, da aldeia Três Rios, que faz parte da Terra Indígena Potiguara de Monte-Mor, situada no município paraibano de Marcação. Propõe uma reflexão sobre a etnicidade como argumento de luta pelos direitos diferenciados e a educação como uma ferramenta para fortalecer a cultura própria. O povo Potiguara viveu anos de opressão e resistência, e a escola indígena diferenciada pode ser uma estratégia de valorização cultural, através do fortalecimento da sua identidade étnica. A escola indígena Pedro Máximo de Lima vem desde o ano de 2003, junto com o processo de retomada da aldeia Três Rios, sendo um importante enclave na vida política e comunitária do povo Potiguara da aldeia no processo de luta pelos direitos indígenas. === This work is focused on the specific and differentiated education of the Potiguara people
in Paraiba. Specifically, I analyze the case of the Escola Estadual Indígena de Ensino
Médio e Fundamental Pedro Máximo de Lima, in the village of Três Rios, part of the
Indigenous Territory Potiguara de Monte-Mor, in the Paraiban municipality of Maração.
It puts forward a reflection on ethnicity as an argument to fight for differentiated rights
and education as a tool to strengthen one’s own culture. The Potiguara people lived
through years of oppression and resistance, and the differentiated indigenous school can
be a strategy for cultural appreciation through the strengthening of the ethnic identity.
The indigenous school Pedro Máximo de Lima has been since 2003, together with the
process of taking the village of Três Rios, an important cornerstone in the political and
community life of the Potiguara people in the process of fighting for indigenous rights.
