Analisa-se a experiência de advogados populares na assessoria jurídica de movimentos populares nas décadas de 1960 a 2000 no Brasil. A questão colocada é a relação dessa atividade com o pluralismo jurídico e a produção de uma cultura jurídica popular e insurgente, especialmente quanto ao trabalho de formação de assessores jurídicos e conscientização de direitos. Parte-se do estudo das atividades de dois grupos: o Acesso - Direitos Humanos e Cidadania, de Porto Alegre, e o Instituto Apoio Jurídico Popular, do Rio de Janeiro. A metodologia para a coleta dos dados é por observação participante enfatizando, num grupo, a observação e, em outro, entrevistas em profundidade e história de vida. Na segunda etapa da pesquisa revisaram-se trabalhos acadêmicos, publicações na internet, revistas especializadas, entre outros. Seguiu-se um estudo teórico que contribuiu para fundamentar a prática, principalmente para a memória das reflexões de Jacques Távora Alfonsin, Thomaz Miguel Pressburger e Miguel Lanzellotti Baldéz. === The subject is the discussion of the insurgent law theory in the context of the legal pluralism. The experience of popular lawyers is analyzed as to their involvement in the legal assistance of popular movements in the decades from 1960 to 2000 in Brazil. The placed question is the relation of this activity with legal pluralism and the production of a popular and insurgent legal culture, especially as for the work of formation of legal advisers and awareness of rights. The study of the activities of two groups are taken as starting point: the Acesso - Cidadania e Direitos Humanos, of Porto Alegre, and the Instituto Apoio Jurídico Popular, of Rio de Janeiro. The methodology for the collection of the data is for participant observation emphasizing, in a group, the observation and, in other, interviews and history of life. In the second stage of the inquiry academic works, internet publications and specialized journals, among others, are collected. Subsequently, a theoretical study was conducted so as to contribute towards substantiating insurgent practices, as with memory of the reflections of Jacques Távora Alfonsin, Thomaz Miguel Pressburger and Miguel Lanzellotti Baldéz.
