Previous issue date: 2009 === O estudo teve por finalidade identificar e analisar os fatores que dificultam e/ou facilitam o processo de implantação da Universidade Aberta do Brasil (UAB) no Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica do Pará (CEFET/PA). Nesse sentido, buscou-se identificar os fatores que impedem o desenvolvimento pelos docentes das práticas pedagógicas em Educação a Distância (EaD); identificando se as condições de infra-estrutura e suporte tecnológico são apropriadas; e analisando se os procedimentos de educação continuada do corpo técnico e docente são adequados para sua atuação na UAB-CEFET/PA. Os procedimentos metodológicos adotados para a realização da pesquisa priorizaram os aspectos qualitativos da investigação, por meio de uma revisão da literatura sobre o tema, que incluiu pesquisas e os trabalhos mais significativos sobre a modalidade de educação à distância. A pesquisa bibliográfica foi realizada paralelamente à pesquisa documental, a fim de reunir informações acerca do processo de implantação da UAB no CEFET/PA. Neste estudo também foi realizada a pesquisa empírica. A geração dos dados foi realizada por meio de entrevista com roteiro semi-estruturado, aplicada a um coordenador geral da UAB, dois coordenadores de curso, um pedagogo, dois técnicos administrativos e quatro professores. Aos alunos foram aplicados questionários, a população envolvida formou-se por 30 (trinta) alunos do curso de Pedagogia desenvolvido a distância pelo CEFET/PA. Os resultados encontrados servirão para: (1) identificar os fatores que facilitam e/ou dificultam a implementação de projetos de EaD, como o da UAB; (2) subsidiar as instituições que pretendem implantar a UAB em outros pólos distribuídos pelo país; (3) melhorar o processo de gestão da UAB no CEFET-PA e em outras Instituições que venham implantar programas da UAB ou similares; (4) compreender em profundidade do processo de implantação da UAB no CEFET/PA. Nessa perspectiva sugerimos e recomendamos algumas práticas no âmbito da Institucionalidade da UAB. ________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT === This work has the objective of identifying and analyzing the factors that make difficult and/or make easy the implementation process of open University of Brazil at Centro Federal Center of Technologic Education of Pará. Through the identification of factors that prevent the development of the pedagogical practices in distance learning by the teachers; looking also to identify if the infra-structure and technical support conditions are appropriate; and analyzing if the procedures of continuous education of the technicians and teachers are appropriate for their work at UAB-CEFET/PA. The methodological procedures adopted to develop the research prioritize the qualitative aspects of investigation, based on rechecking the bibliography about the subject, which included researches and more significant works about the modality of distance learning. The bibliographic research was developed at the same time of the documental research, with the objective of collecting information about the implantation process of UAB in CEFET/PA. On this work, empirical research was also used. Data generation was made through interviews based on a semi-developed script, applied to one general coordinator of UAB, seven course coordinators, one pedagogue and one management technician. Questionnaires were applied to the students, the approached population was composed by 30 (thirty) students from the Pedagogy course developed on distance by CEFET/PA. The results found will be useful to: (1) identify the factors that make difficult and/or make easy the implementation of distance learning projects, like UAB’s project; (2) offer support to institutions which may be planning to install UAB in other spots through the country; (3) increase the management process of UAB at CEFET/PA and in other institutions that may come to implement UAB’s programs or some similar projects; (4) understand deeply the deployment process of UAB at CEFET/PA. This perspective we suggest and recommend some practices within the institutions of UAB.
