Sujeitos e Métodos: Pesquisa clinicoqualitativa realizada com cinco mulheres que vivenciaram a perda gestacional diagnosticada após 20 semanas de idade gestacional e foram entrevistadas no Ambulatório de Revisão de Parto do Centro de Atenção Integral à Saúde da Mulher aproximadamente 50 dias após o parto. A idade das participantes variou entre 18 e 42 anos. A Entrevista Semidirigida de Questões Abertas foi utilizada como técnica de coleta de dados por permitir um contato em profundidade entrevistador-entrevistado. A técnica de tratamento dos dados empregada foi a Análise Qualitativa de Conteúdo e propiciou a categorização dos dados a partir de leituras flutuantes do conjunto de entrevistas transcritas. Resultados: No diagnóstico do óbito fetal as mulheres relatam a ocorrência de várias emoções simultâneas. O parto é descrito como triste e frustrante. Ao ver o corpo do bebê, ocorre o reconhecimento da criança enquanto pessoa pertencente ao seu grupo familiar. Em casa, a ausência do filho é sentida diariamente no contato com os pertences da criança, com a família, com os amigos. Sentimentos de incapacidade, vergonha e descrença em relação ao futuro são destacados. A dificuldade no relacionamento com mulheres grávidas e bebês é enfatizada, pois tal contato traz a lembrança da ausência do filho. Conclusões: A mulher que vivencia a perda de uma criança antes de seu nascimento precisa expressar e sentir suas dores para reorganizar-se emocionalmente, uma vez que a negação de tais sentimentos impossibilita a elaboração adequada do luto. Por esse motivo, o contato com a realidade deve ser facilitado através de espaço para expressão dos sentimentos. Nas instituições de saúde isso pode ser facilitado pela equipe multiprofissional como uma medida terapêutica e preventiva. Palavras-chave: puerpério, pesquisa qualitativa, luto === Abstract: Objectives: Interpreting the psychological meanings attributed for women to the death phenomenon of their babies before their birth, when the stillbirth was diagnosed before parturition. Subjects and Methods: Clinic-qualitative search realized with five women who lived the gestational loss diagnosed after 20 weeks of gestational age and they were interviewed in the Outpatient of Childbirth Review from CAISM ¿ Center for Integral Attention to Woman¿s Health about 50 days after parturition. The participants¿ age varied between 18 and 42 years. The semi-structured interview with open questions was used as technique of data collection, because it is able to keep a deep contact between interviewer and interviewee. The technique of data treatment used was Qualitative Analyses of Content and it propitiated the data categorization from floating readings of the set of transcribing interviews. Results: In the stillbirth diagnose the women report the occurrence of several simultaneous emotions. The parturition is described like sad and frustrating. After seeing the body baby, it occurs the recognition of the child while person pertaining to her familiar group. At home, the absence of the baby is felt daily, in the contact with child¿s belongs, with the family, with the friends. Incapacity, shame and incredulity feelings in relation to future are highlighted. The difficulty in the relationship with pregnancy women and babies is emphasized, because such contact brings their absence baby remembrance. Conclusions: The woman who lives the loss of a child before her birth needs to express and feel her pains to reorganize herself emotionally, since the negation of such feelings make impossible the adequate elaboration of sorrow. For this reason, the contact with the reality must be facilitated through of a space to the feeling expressions. In the health care institutions this can be facilitated by multiprofessional team as a therapeutic and preventive measure.
