Medical Imaging MRI Parallel Imaging Compressed Sensing MRF Prior Information Gains in MRI imaging time can be reinvested into improved patient comfort, higher resolution or reduced cost of opportunity for hospitals. In general, the most drastic increase in imaging speed is achieved via signal undersampling, compensated with prior information for image reconstruction. Two successful undersampled acquisition techniques are Parallel Imaging (PI) and Magnetic Resonance Fingerprinting (MRF). Both methods could benefit from optimized exploitation of prior information. We first improved PI reconstruction quality by exploiting local anatomical correlation across large collection of subject-independent images, while developing a robust framework to avoid prior information bias. Anatomical correlation from same-subject images was similarly exploited in the case of PI reconstruction for dynamic cardiac MRI. Finally in the case of MRF, a robust iterative framework was developed to exploit temporal template dictionaries to their full extent, reducing acquisition time for in vivo quantitative imaging by a factor 3. 2014-09-02 English text Case Western Reserve University School of Graduate Studies / OhioLINK http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=case1404220001 http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=case1404220001 unrestricted This thesis or dissertation is protected by copyright: all rights reserved.
