This paper overcomes the endogeneity bias and is, to my best knowledge, the first to quantifies the impact of the levels of women's education on their enfranchisement. Through an extensive historical review, I identify the prevalence of male public college students as a viable instrument to isolate the casual relationship. The linear probability model indicates that a one standard deviation increase in the proportion of females holding degrees leads to a decadal suffrage likelihood 34 percentage points higher. The absolute number of college-educated females is also found to have a positive and significant impact. 2021-04-26 English text Miami University / OhioLINK http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=miami1619204130954484 http://rave.ohiolink.edu/etdc/view?acc_num=miami1619204130954484 unrestricted This thesis or dissertation is protected by copyright: all rights reserved.
