I began the action research project in the winter of 2002 because my drama classroom was sometimes lacking the key aspects of classroom community, cooperation and teamwork. Throughout the process of action research I made very little headway in solving my problem. After the completion of my action research project I began to examine it to determine why it had been unsuccessful. Through this examination of my previous actions and reflections I was engaging in refractive practitioner research. Through the analysis of my action research project I was finally able to get to the root of my classroom community concerns. I began to uncover and understand the discourses or internalized socio-cultural beliefs that influenced my choices as a drama teacher.
