It has been compared against the advantages of In-gear coasting and the Deceleration Fuel Cut off prevalent in all passenger vehicles today. Also the utilization of driver assistant sensors – RADAR, camera and GPS to expand the opportunities of coasting and also safety has been discussed. Development of a platform vehicle which has shift by wire to evaluate fuel saving in the real world. A longitudinal simulator has been developed which incorporates the difference in coasting performance for in gear and neutral to support in developing algorithms before testing in the real world.
