Description
Summary:碩士 === 淡江大學 === 化學學系 === 61 === The carbonyl stretching vibration of monocarboxylic acid in CCl4 solution has been studied. The complex band was resolved as linear dimer, cyclic dimer, linear trimer, and cyclic trimer for the sake of taking a deeper insight into the nature of the complex self-assoc-iation systems. Based on the assumption of the same absorptivity for each hydrogen bonding (C=0...H-O), we introduced a new "m-factor" into the equations, assuming only an equilibrium existed in monomer-cyclic dimer, and we could obtain a pretty good result. The insensitiveness of "m-factor" was calculated and tested in different concentrations and temperatures. Three classes of acid polymers were found as followings: linear dimer for class I (m□2); linear and cyclic dimers for class II (m□4); linear, cyclic dimers, and linear trimer for class III (m□8). The effect of solvents with different dielectric constants on the hydrogen bonded systems was investigated. The K.B.M. theory was not applied to those acid-base systems.
