The intensity of Al I line was found to increase with discharge current, but decreased with increasing gas pressure, cathode bore diameter, and cathode bore depth. Very similar to Al I line intensity, the Ar I line intensity was varied with current and pressure, but there was little effect with cathode geometry. In this study, the pressure of the carrier gas from 02 torr to 1.5 torr, the total current from 5ma to 30ma, the bore diameter from (10/64)" to (20/64)" and the bore depth from 0.5cm to 3.5cm.
