Due to the fact of their business volumn tended to be lower, the only workable wav to strairighten out is to engage in the development of the over-seas construction works. It is known that such overseas projects undertaken should have their own characteristics, such as: local market situation, protectionism of host country. infonnatior, assistance rendered by our country,support of fund, contractor's technique and management, etc. Unfortunately, there was no outstanding performance made out by our con-tractors because of the above characteristics not quite understood or handling not in properway. As compared to the performance of other countries, it was as different as heaven and earth. To thoroughly research the reasons and to find out the directions for future improve-ment are consider d to be necessary indeed. This essay is to describe first the domestic contractors' engaging in construction works abroad, and then to take Saudi Arabia and Singapore as practical example for study. This is done in accordance with the statistics and analysis derived from physical investigation and expected to be offered to the concerned for reference, adoption and formulation in order to have more foreign exchange gained in the res-pect of the construction works exported. The essay is divided into five chapters,thirty-three sections, and includes more than one hundred thousand words in total.
