Summary: | 碩士 === 高雄醫學院 === 醫學研究所 === 81 === Significant levels of resistance against Angiostrongylus
cantonensis immunization were developed by C57BL/6 mice exposed
to highly irradiated third-stage larvae (L3) . The mice that
infected with 40 gamma-irradiated or 20 non-gamma-irradiated L3
were observed 10 weeks continuously in order to approach the
immunization. In cell-mediated immunoresponse, the ratio of
spleen weight over body weight or thymus weight over body
weight of the mice that immunized with gamma-irradiated L3
reach a peak separately at the third or fourth week of
infection . The percentage of eosinophils in CSF of the
mice that immunized with gamma- irradiated L3 is much lower
than those of the mice that immuni- zed with non-gamma-
irradiated L3 . There is no significant variance between
the ratio of T helper cell over T suppressor cell of the two
groups of mice and both increase at the third week of infection.
The lymphoid cell response of mice to worm Ag appeared to be
inhibited. In humoral immunoresponse , the OD value of the
infected mice elevated from the first week and the response
reach a peak at the third week , then declined gradually to the
end of the last week . With regard to ADCC , eosinophils
from infected mice increase the adherence to L3 & L5 at the
third week of infec- tion .The immunoresponse of splenic cells
to SRBC is suppressed in the two groups of mice. Normal
levels of vaccined-induced resistance were observed in mice
decomplemented before challenge by treatment with cobra venom
factor. The data also argue against a role for complement in
the effector mechanism of L3-induced immunity.
