But when we inspeet our surroundings, it is a pity to find the deterioration of city features under industrialization, urbani- zation and high technology devlopment. Man has to face the problems of traffic jams, air pollution, noise pollution, disorderly located electric poles and signboard. Even the basic need for human life such as sufficient sunlight, fresh air, green area, pure drinking water, amusing footpath, convenient traffic, comfortable living area and urban facilities with quantitative and qualities; are far behind their demands. Although the problems of urban environment emerged continuously, man's need, desire and dream for better urban life will last forever, and the development of new urban will never cease. To leave our descendants a comfortable living environment and beautiful memories of culture, those who with professional skill in Architecture, Urban Planning, and Urban Design, should start in an overall consideration, re-inspect and re-construct the design concept and space-structure of urban planning by the concrete, efficient and prospective method. Besides, these professionals have to take the responsibilities of improving the quality of living environment. According to the objectives related above, this study will execute the following work. 1. The further study of present environmental problems in Taiwanese city. 2. The establishment of concept for the urban system in multi- dimensional town planning. 3. The analysis for the typology of the development in multi- dimensional town planning. 4. The study of the characteristics of multi-dimensional town planning 5. The establishment of concept for multi-dimensional town planning. 6. The proposal of the overall and long-term theories for space- structure in multi-dimensional town planning. 7. The study and analysis of multi-dimensional town planning cases in Taiwan and other countries.
