To determine the efffects of intermetent hypoxia to aerobic capacity and blood cell in normoxia, five male subjects breathed mixed air with low oxygen pressure (FIO2 = 11.18%) during sleep for eleven days, and were tested using increasing load bicycle ergometer. Hemoglobin increased significantly after hypoxia sleep (H) at the 12th day, and decreased slightly aftr two weeks follow up at the 26th day (F). At H, there were no significant diffirence between pretest and AH about aerobic capacity. At F, maximun oxygen cunsumption increased 6.5% but not significant, maximun heart rate was not different among pretest, H and F. Maximun oxygen pulse and total work increased 8.6% and 12.7, respectively. Maximun lactic acid, increased 34.8% ( 6.5 to 8.76 mmol/l ), but not significant. Lactate threshold increased slightly ( 22.42 to 24.41 ml/min/kg), and significantly. At submax exercise, oxygen consumption, heart rate, oxygen equivalent, pH and oxygen pulse were not significantly different between H and pretest, but oxygen consumption, oxygen pulse and pH increased significantly at F. Heart rate, oxygen equivalent were decreased significantly at F. There were negative correlation between lactate acid and glucose during exercise excluded which at F. pH increased at the 6th day and F no matter when at rest or at submax exercise. These results suggested that the aerobic capacity increased at F, and the major reason came from physical adaptions to hypoxia that increased hemoglobin, cardiac output, oxygen consumption, pH and tolerance to lactic acid.
