A vivid cavern with lots of stalactites and stalagmites has been generated by the method of stochastic modeling, or so called fractal modeling, together with simulated hydraulic erosion. To simulate stalagmites is more difficult than to simulate stalactites, since stalagmites are not usually of a simple cylindrical shape, but have more than one altitude corresponding to one ground position. By using the marching cube algorithm and modified erosion equation, a successful synthesis of a cavern with stalactites and stalagmites has been made.
