Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 化學工程研究所 === 81 === The purpose of this research is to study the effect of chelating agents, such as EDTA, NTA and citrate, on the removal of copper from synthetic wastewaters by reverse osmosis treatment. Experimental results are presented for the removals of both copper ion and chelating agents. The revelant parameters, such as permeate flux, transport parameter, rejection, etc. under various operating conditions were studied and discussed. Experimental indicate that the presence of chelating agents severely inhibit the removal of copper by reverse osmosis for neutral and basic solutions where the formation of copper chelates predominates. The copper ion and chelating agent exhibit somewhat different separation properties by reverse osmosis for acidic solutions , for instance, the removals of chelating agent were found to be lower than that of copper ion.The removals of copper decrease with decreasing pH value in the range of pH for 2.0 to 5.0 but the effect of solution pH on the removal of EDTA was not significant in the experimental pH range. The increasing operation pressure made the removal efficiecies of solute worese, which had different effect on each solution system. The solution-diffusion model and Langmuir adsorption model were both explained well in the transport behavior of species through the membrane. The technical feasibility of reverse osmosis treatment of chelated heavy metal from wastewaters were evaluated with an understanding of metal coordination concepts.
