The current method requires the designer to do repeated trial- and-errors, therefore the efficiency of this stage is very low. The thesis uses the basic forms of building structures to build a Data-Base of member sections. A searching program was developed for the Data-Base, which uses the lengths of spans, live loads, and the number structure floors as searching parameters. The predicted sections can then be obtained easily. After getting the data of member sections,it could progress the structure analysis, the detail design of structure, electrical & mechanical project design etc. The efficiency of design can be increased substantially.
