The system directly uses NC feature data from an object-oriented feature-based part model, which is created from feature-based design system and process planning expert system. The system examines recess areas from the planned cutting regions of a rt model and decomposes the cutting region into several cutting blocks. The Cutting block is thus planned with cutter path. During the process planning, cutters are selected based on the geometrical shapes of the deomposed cutting blocks.ntly, the system generates a cutter path for each cutting block and translates the path inot NC codes. The generated NCis thus fed into the simulation system to animate cutting process to verify the resulting NC codes. Finally, the system compares the manufactured profile of the workpiece with the designated one to provide feedback information for part designers or process planners.
