The effects of air velocity, staticbed height , particle diameter, and the perforated plate design on the mean amplitude and major frequency of pressure fluctuations were studied. Pressure fluctuations at the bed and the plenum were also compared. The fluidization regimes and their behavior were discussed. Transition between different regimes were found to be affected by the distributor design.From the spectral analysis of the pressure fluctuation, we can determine the regime of fluidization. The results showed that the mean amplitude of pressure fluctuations were affected by distributor design among the operating range. When the open ratio >=2.0%, the mean amplitude increased rapidly with the open ratio, and relationship between the mean amplitude and air velocity, orifice size became irregular. The major fre- quency was affected by the distributor design less than by the mean amplitude. The major frequency decreased as the bed height or the open ratio increased,and increased slightly when the particle diameter decreased.
