Summary: | 碩士 === 中原大學 === 化學工程研究所 === 82 === In the first part of this study, two series of semi-arom- atic
polyester-imides were prepared by direct polycondensation of
N-(4-carboxyphenyl trimellitimide) (M1) or N-(3-carboxyphe- nyl
trimellitimide)(M2) with various pyromellitic diimide diol
containing methylene spacer = 2-6 respectively . The effect of
amount of LiCl , pyridine and the kinds of condensation agents
on the direct polycondensation were studied . It is found that
the P1 polymer series with even methylene spacer (n =4,6) ex-
hibits LC phase , but the P2 polymers series does not form LC
phase. In the second part of this study, a series of copolymer
was prepareed by using copolymerization from N-( 4-carboxyphyl
trimellitimid,N-N'-di(hydroxypropyl) pyromellitic diimide (A2)
,and various aromatic diols . It is found that some of the co-
polymers exhibits LC phase . Both Tm and Ti Will be decreased
as the size of lateral group increased. In the the third part
of this study, two series of copolymers were prepared by using
coplymerization from phenyl hydroquinone (PhHQ) or 4-4'-biph-
enyl diol (BP) and N-N'-di(hydroxypropyl) pyromellitic diimide
respectively. When the molar ratio of PhHQ (or BP) to N-N'-di(
hydroxypropyl) pyromellitic diimide were higher than 2/3 , the
copolymers exhibited LC phase . The mesophase range will be
increased with the amount of PhHQ increased. The fouth part of
this study, a series of copolymers were polymerization by using
N-(4-carboxyphenyl trimellitimide),various imide diols (methy-
lene spacer=2-6),and phenyl hydroquinone as the monmers. It is
found that the copolymers of this series exhibits LC phase.The
odd-even effects for the methylene spacer lengths and transi-
tion temperature in the copolymers are not significative . The
thermostability is not influenced by the methylene spacr length.
