This study tries to discuss the demand of long distance call by means of transportation concepts and demand models. First of all, this study analyzes and compares the di- fferences between telecommunications and transportation, in- cluding : (a)the relationships between these two industries, (b) demand characteristics, (c) supply characteristics, (d) price characteristics, and (e)demand model characteristics. Secondly, this study applies four different transportation demand models to the demand of long distance call, including Kraft-SARC model, Baumol-Quandt model, Mclynn model, and Aggregation Logit model. Because these four transportation demand models can not be applied to telecommunications appropriately, this study developes two different models for the expressed as follow : 1. The socio-economic factors of origin and destation have the obvious direction for the demand of long distance call. 2. From the direct demand model, the price elasticity for the demand of messages is -0.53, and for the demand of mean duration of a call is -0.16, while the income elas- ticity is 0.50. For Western areas, the income elasticity for the demand of messages is -0.5. The price elasticity is -0.12 and the income elasticity is 0.44 for the de- mand of mean duration of a call.
