Summary:碩士 === 國立中山大學 === 資訊工程研究所 === 82 === Desktop Video Conference systems combine the technologies of computer and communication,can reduce the cost of traditional conference,and had already become a popular topic of multimedia applications.There are some recommendations and standards about Video Conference systems have been introduced, but most of them are hard to reach for current desktop computers.We used the most popular equipments and environment to design a Desktop Video Conference system,applying some strategies to balance the conflict between system performance and environment restrictions. We use the 〝Priority Based Resources Allocation〞strategy to construct our system.The basic concept of this strategy is that network bandwidth、video display size、audio functions、and system control are all treated as system resources.Resources allocation depends on priority of conference nodes which is determined by audio energy ,if a node has the opportunity to get high priority and becomes the 〝focus〞 of conference,it can be allocated more resources to demonstrate its information.A white- board is introduced in this system,on the white-board,every node can draw graphs and type texts,then transmite to other nodes,the white-board will be a good communication media for our conference. The conference system is constructed by many modules ,those modules are independent and controled by control module ,when some new technologies are introduced,sush as faster communication network,new I/O bus,and new video board,we can upgrade the system performance just only modify the respected module.
