Summary: | 碩士 === 國立臺灣科技大學 === 工程技術研究所 === 82 === In this paper, we study the performance of an N*N nonblocking
multi-plane ATM switch with common input and output buffers.
Traffic with two different priorities and two policies are
sidered, where different weights are assigned to cells
according to their traffic classes. The common input buffers
are finite, and policy A imposed on the input buffers is to
prevent the high priority class from loss and policy B is to
guarantee the high priority class with fixed delay. An
approximation analysis based on some independence assumptions
and an equivalent queueing sys- tem for performance measures,
such as throughputs, cell loss probabilities, and mean delay
time are provided. It is found that the nonblocking multi-
plane switch guarantees the quality service(QOS) for
different traffic classes if appropriate weights are assigned
to the corresponding traffic classes and a suitable input
buffer is equipped. All experiments are completed by being
derived from analysis and simulation results.
