So the principal engineering use of earthquake data, both macroseismic and instrumental,is to establish in a given geographic region the return period and risk of earthquakes and assess acceptable seismic risk levels for the design of different types of engineered structures. We apply G1,G3 to every seismic zone of Taiwan for investigating seismic risk and return period of various time and magnitude by the maximum likelihood estimation. We also introduce earthquake data of every seismic zone of Taiwan from 1901 to 1991, test the independent of mainshock and some assumtpion, and give a estimate of the cumulative distribution function of largest earthquakes of annual year on missing data. Otherwise, making use of Gumbel probability paper, K-S test and AIC, we compare goodness of fit of every model of every seismic zone. Jyh-Shyang Wu 伍志祥 1994 學位論文 ; thesis 53 zh-TW
