The PDLC films can be treated as a heterogenous dielectric films, because of its phase -separation characteristics, and we also found the PDLC film has the interfacial polarization at the low frequency. In this study, we study the thermal property of the PDLC film by using DSC. This study show the effective fraction of LC droplet is a function of its size.In order to improve the color contrast of the PDLC films. In this study, we added dichroic dyes, such as methyl yellow, methyl red and 4-nitro-4-dimethylazobenzene into E7/ PMMA PDLC film. The UV-VIS spectroscopy can be used to determine the scattering efficiency of PDLC films, and the distribution of dichroic dye disslovd in the LC droplets. It was found that met hyl yellow and methyl red are the best choice to obtain a high contrast ratio for this PDLC film, it was also found that only the dye dissloved in the droplet will enhance the contrast of the film and the dye must be segregated in the droplet.
